K2-79b and K2-222b: Mass Measurements of Two Small Exoplanets with Periods beyond 10 days that Overlap with Periodic Magnetic Activity Signals

Abstract We present mass and radius measurements of K2-79b K2-222b, two transiting exoplanets orbiting active G-type stars observed with HARPS-N K2. Their respective 10.99 day 15.39 orbital periods fall near signals induced by stellar magnetic activity. The might therefore interfere lead to an inaccurate estimate exoplanet mass. a method mitigate these effects when radial velocity (RV) activity-indicator observations are available over multiple observing seasons the period is known. perform correlation periodogram analyses on subsets composed each target's seasons, in addition full data sets. For both targets, reveal optimal season little no interference at known exoplanet. make confident detection confirming agreement between fits RV set season. K2-79b, we measure 11.8 ± 3.6 M ⊕ 4.09 0.17 R . 8.0 1.8 2.35 0.08 According model predictions, highly irradiated Uranus analog K2-222b hosts significant amounts water ice. also solution for candidate second companion K2-222 147.5 days.
